Fall is here. Maybe not by the date on the calendar, but by the sound of Football in the air, we know it’s Fall. Navy’s season has started and we are looking forward to another great year culminating in retaining the Commander’s in Chief Trophy.
Not to sound like a broken record, but we are knee deep into our Membership Drive and we need you. If you’ve already renewed your membership for 2010, you’re ahead of the game. If you haven’t, now is the time to make it happen and here’s why:
- New “Chapter Members Only†benefits go into effect starting in September 2010
- Invitation to members only Dark Ages Dinner/Dance in February
- Chapter Member pricing for Lobsterfest tickets
- Special “Professional Networking Event†invitations
- Monthly Chapter Newsletter delivered to your inbox automatically
- Advance notification of Alumni functions and activities
And the list goes on…
The first benefit of membership will go into effect at the upcoming September Luncheon. We will institute a 2-tier event cost, one for members and a slightly higher cost for non-members. This type of pricing scheme is a very common practice for many professional organizations and we believe it’s a benefit our members would find of value.
We are also in the middle of revamping our website and one of the new benefits are members will enjoy is 24/7 access to our Chapter database, through registration with a secure login and password process.
Many other benefits are also in development as we move into the last part of 2010 and into 2011. Your Board is committed to enhancing the value of an Atlanta Chapter Membership and your input is welcomed for consideration.
To become a member simple go to our website and download a membership form and mail it in or click on the link to register on the USNAAA website and complete your application there.
You’ll continue to hear more about our membership drive throughout the remainder of the year and it’s important to say again that our Chapter is only as good as its members and the individuals who are willing to actively participate in the events, activities and leadership of the group. So, if you haven’t signed on, do it today and start reaping the benefits.
AUGUST EVENTS
Our speaker for our August luncheon was CAPTAIN R. B. “Buddy†Wellborn, USN (ret.) Class ’59. Capt. Wellborn was not only a very informative speaker on Navy Football, it’s history and his review and predictions for the 2010 season, but also very entertaining and engaging.
He even prepared a handout of his assessment of Navy’s 2010 team rooster, it’s schedule, opponents and outcomes. You can download a copy of this and his bio at our website.
