Chapter Trustee Update (Ples Bruce ‘77)
Trustees met last quarter and reviewed the 2020 plan.  One key point of the 2020 review included Cyber Security.  USNA is planning to build a new state of the art center to house all our cyber security initiatives.
Ples provided an update from the nomination committee.  Admiral Robert Natter, USNA ’67, is the selection of the nomination committee to replace the retiring Admiral Steve Abbott, USNA ’66, as the next chairman of the alumni association.  Natter’s nomination will move forward to the BOT for confirmation in the spring.
In addition to the chairman’s selection, there are two regional trustee positions up for grabs in the Mid-Atlantic and West Coast.
The Alumni House is quickly becoming too small for the needs of the nation alumni association & foundation.  Additional locations in the Annapolis area are being considered.
Monthly Luncheon Update (Ed Brownlee ’81)
January’s speaker will be Bob Kerr, 6th District Director Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.  Mr. Kerr was a pilot with the Army Air Corp stationed at Pearl Harbor.
February speaker is TBD.
The chapter is looking for potential future speakers for the start of 2012.  Potential speakers discussed include the local USO leadership and Brian Stann, USMC and Class of 1999.
Old/New Business (Ed Brownlee ’81)
Army-Navy Football Gathering
The 2011 game was a big win for the Mids, the local chapter and Dantanna’s at the CNN Center.  We had a large number of last minute walk-ons that helped drive our alumni count to the event to close to 150!  Add in West Point’s contribution to the event and it’s safe to say we had a very spirited group.
Army made it a close, but in the end the Mids prevailed 27-21.  That makes 10 straight wins for USNA over our biggest rival, the Black Knights of West Point.  Thanks to all the alumni who made it to last month’s event.
Next game for Navy takes place in Dublin, Ireland against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on 9-1-12.  Go Navy!
There are two special Navy football programs that will be making their way to TV and the internet.  Showtime is broadcasting A Game of Honor, http://sports.sho.com/#/football/specials/army-navy/a-game-of-honor and From Philadelphia to Fallujah, http://www.armynavy2001.com/ANgame/Trailer.html

The Gospel Choir came to Atlanta on MLK Weekend, January 14-16 and performed in front of two large crowds, one at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and a second in Forsyth, GA.  The events were a big success for USNA.  Bravo Zulu to our very own Mike Hill, USNA ’77.
