Treasurer’s Report (Pete Knoetgen ‘77)
No update provided this month.
Membership Drive Update (Angus McLean ‘84/Jon Barton ‘66)
No change in membership.  Current chapter membership is 227 dues paying members.  There are 296 local members in the Alumni data base.
Chapter Trustee Update (Ples Bruce ‘77)   
Election of Trustees will take place in the spring of 2012.  Nominations for trustees in the Mid-Atlantic Western Regions have been submitted.  Each region has two approved candidates.
Monthly Luncheon Update (Ed Brownlee ’81)
October’s speaker will be Ned Hunter ’81.  Ned is the current State Area Coordinator for Georgia’s Blue & Gold Office Program.  Proposed topic for conversation is an admissions update for the Class of 2016.
November’s speaker will be Greg Bennett of the Shepherd Center. Mr. Bennett is a retired Navy Corpsman and will discuss the work the Shepherd Center is doing with wounded military servicemen regarding medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury or brain injury.
There is no luncheon slated for December.
The chapter is looking for potential future speakers for the start of 2012.  One potential speaker may be the local USO leadership.
Old/New Business (Ed Brownlee ’81)
Membership-Auto Enrollment
BoD have agreed to move forward with introducing an auto enrollment option to the chapter which will automatically renew membership until the member opts out or the member’s credit card expires.
Auto Membership Enrollment trial will be completed before November’s BoD meeting.  Once the new process clears the trail period the BoD, the new option will be made ready for roll out in preparation for 2012’s membership drive.
Navy Football
Next game for the Midshipman will be Saturday, October 21st against East Carolina in Annapolis for Homecoming.   The chapter will host the game at the Jocks & Jills.
Navy-Notre Dame is set for Saturday, October 28th.  Kick-off is set for 3:30.  The chapter will host the game at Big Chow Grill.
Navy-Troy on November 5th.  Location and time TBD.
2011 is Navy’s turn to host the Army-Navy Game.  This year’s game is set for Saturday, 12-12-11.  Ed is in the process of securing Dantanna’s at the CNN Center (http://www.dantannas.com/).  This is a great location with good food and ample parking.  Restaurant ownership is very eager to host this event.  Anticipated attendance for this event is expected to be between 250-300 people.  BoD has reviewed and approved proposed menu selections.

New Atlanta Chapter Facebook page was launched last month.  Our new link can be found at http://www.facebook.com/pages/U-S-Naval-Academy-Alumni-Association-Atlanta-Chapter-USNAAAA/111534325567216
Our Facebook page has reached our initial goal 25 “likes” from local alumni.
Ed to continue to make chapter members aware of our Facebook presence during the monthly luncheons.  Please pass the word and the link on to our local Shipmates.
Lobsterfest 2012
Red Top Mountain Shelter #2 has been reserved for Saturday, June 2nd for Lobsterfest 2012.
Lobsterfest Appreciation Dinner
Steve Frederick ’72 is working to host an appreciation dinner for all of the team members who help prepare this year’s meal for the chapter.  More details to follow.
2011 Holiday Open House
2011 is tentatively set for Sunday, 12-4-11.  Location and Sponsor TBD.
2012 Dark Ages Ball
Date TBD.  Location and Sponsor TBD.
USNA Gospel Choir
The Gospel Choir will come to Atlanta on MLK Weekend, January 14-16 to perform.  The board is looking for a new sponsor to relieve Stew Caldwell.
USO Support at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport
The USO has opportunities for the chapter to serve by welcoming home returning veterans.  This opportunity may be available to alumni and the USNA Parents Club.  Ed to work with the USO and confirm open dates for the chapter.
