The Founding of the U.S. Naval Academy

The U.S. Naval Academy was founded in Annapolis on Oct. 10, 1845.
On 10 October, the Naval Academy celebrated the day it was officially formed in 1845. Founder’s Day is also a celebration of the Naval Academy family of alumni, parents and friends. The mission is still strong and more important than ever.
